Zoey’s Place, in partnership with the Monique Burr Foundation for Children (MBF), are helping protect children in Hancock County schools through prevention education.

These programs empower kids, teens, and adults with the knowledge and strategies to prevent abuse, bullying, and other dangers.

Part of the program for young kids is a list of 5 Safety Rules that are simple, effective strategies designed to help kids and teens recognize and respond to unsafe situations, including abuse, bullying, cyberbullying, and other dangers. These rules teach kids to stay aware, take action, and seek help from trusted adults.

With 1 in 5 children facing physical or sexual abuse before adulthood, it’s essential to equip them with with a vocabulary to protect themselves.

Often, kids who are abused did not know their abuse was wrong. Sometimes, just teaching them the words can help them find a way forward.
